The Moscone family started making wine in Piedmont in 1877. Four generations later, the family tradition is now in the capable hands of Sara Moscone, who after practicing law for a few years realized her future was rooted in her family’s past – making Barolo in the world-famous vineyards of Bussia.
Sara played in the vineyards as a young girl, where she learned to observe the rhythm of the seasons. One of her first lessons in winemaking was learning how to suck wine through a rubber hose, transferring it from the wicker enclosed demijohns to bottles.
Later, from her father, she learned how the characteristics of the wines reflect the different vineyards where grapes are grown. In 2022, Sara oversaw the construction of a new winery and tasting room in La Morra, where she’s bringing new techniques to traditional winemaking.
At Cantina Moscone Sara makes Barolo to be approachable earlier. (She also advocates drinking Barolo every day!) We carry a full vertical of Sara’s Barolos including 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016, as well as her Nebbiolo and Arneis.
