Sancerre, made in the Loire Valley from the Sauvignon Blanc grape, is known for its flinty minerality. It’s a bone-dry white wine that’s highly aromatic and shows intense flavors of peaches and gooseberries. It’s a great wine for a sunny spring or summer day.

If you’re a fan of Sancerre, you might want to branch out and try Furmint. Mostly known for being the grape behind the world famous, sweet Hungarian dessert wine, Tokaji, Furmint is also used to produce a dry white wine.

Sancerre and Furmint wines are well known for their high acidity. Sancerre typically has bracing acidity that makes it refreshing and crisp. The acidity of dry Furmint wines provides a similarly refreshing quality.

Both are great, versatile food wines. Sancerre pairs well with a variety of dishes, especially seafood, goat cheese, and salads. Furmint, with its high acidity and green, spicy flavors, complements herb-crusted poultry, fish, and even delicate Asian dishes like sushi.
